Spiderman vs. Cyclops

Cyclops’ optic blast lights up the night and swats Spiderman from the sky, causing him to tumble to the ground. He quickly shakes it off and takes to the sky once more, knowing he has to approach this fight with caution. Peter Parker can ill afford to face this X-Man head on, he’s just too powerful. Darting from rooftop to rooftop, Spidey uses his speed and agility to keep Summers at bay.

Swinging low through the streets, Spidey dodges blast after blast, and then with incredible accuracy, hits Cyke with a well placed gob of webbing, covering his visor, rendering it useless. With Cyclops preoccupied, Spiderman moves in for the kill; encasing the hero from head to toe in webbing, hoping to suffocate him.

Parker has some last witty remark and says goodbye to an old friend but as he turns to leave he notices a faint crimson glow coming from within the cocoon. With blinding brilliance, the cocoon shatters and Scott Summers rises from the debris, visor in hand.

Cyclops opens his eyes and unleashes all his rage and frustration at Spiderman. His optic blast sears concrete, obliterates the landscape and consumes the wall-crawling wonder; without sight Cyclops struggles forward through the rubble relying on his other senses. Then it hits him, the smell of burning flesh fills his nostrils. He slowly feels his way over to his fallen comrade and kneels beside him; Summers can hear his laboured breathing. He wraps his hands around his throat and begins to choke whatever life remains in Parker’s body…but the web-slinger is not done yet. Spidey’s eyes open, and with all the strength he can muster, breaks from Cyclops’ grip and twists around behind him, his arms constricting about the X-Man’s neck. Through the pain and exhaustion, Parker holds on, cutting off his air and blood flow. In minutes it is over, but Spiderman does not move; the shock setting in. The last thing that he remembered before passing out was about something he had once heard his uncle say; something about responsibility, and he wondered if he had really done the right thing.
