Hawkeye vs. Magneto

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

A normal human being takes an arrow out of it’s sheath, knocks it, pulls back, aims and releases. The process done accurately for a single arrow can take even an expert dozens of seconds. Hawkeye’s target faced a barrage of arrows instantly. There was no way to evade such an array. No way, of course, except just how Magneto did it.

The arrows stopped, turned and fired. And just like that the predator had became the prey. Another set of arrows raced through the skies, but they too stopped and joined the reversed assault. A single arrow was then released, but when it stopped, it didn’t turn. It exploded disintegrating Magneto’s potentially deadly counter.

The splinters of broken arrows clicked against the floor. The air was empty. That emptiness created a certain desperation inside Hawkeye.  So, he did all he knew. He fired. He fired, everything. And everything stopped, everything except a single arrow.

The plastic arrow found it’s mark piercing Magneto’s thigh. Screaming in pain, Magneto raged upon his opponent. Arrows shot through Hawkeye escaping on the other side of him only to fly through a new unpenetrated area.

“Athletic. Accurate. Inventive. Yet, like all men, inadequate.”

Magneto stared down at the disfigured corpse of Hawkeye, blood dripping down his leg.

Magneto vs. Professor Xavier

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

The roof of the X-Mansion is torn off and strewn about the front yard, the building itself is split like a gaping wound.  The Master of Magnetism descends from the night in search of a man he both respects and despises.

“Oh Charles, how did it come to this?”

He sifts through the wreckage, tearing down walls, burrowing deeper into the bowels of the house Xavier built, until finally, he sees it.  A massive circular door, protecting a massive spherical room: Cerebro; Xavier’s telepathy-enhancing machine that boosts his powers to astronomical levels.

“Come on now Charles, what is hiding going to accomplish?  There are only so many places you can be, and within your little toy is the most predictable.”

With a flick of his wrist, Erik Lehnsherr rips the door from its locks and hinges sending it crashing down the hallway behind him.  Casually, and yet cautiously he enters, the darkness enveloping him.

“Charles?” he asks the shadows.

“I am truly sorry Erik”, he hears from the abyss.  Xavier wheels into the light, his head adorned with the uplink to Cerebro.  “Don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing.”

Xavier bows his head and a single tear rolls down his cheek.

“Wait!  Charles!  Please!?”  Lehnsherr pleads, his eyes roll back into his head and all he sees is light; he is overcome with a feeling of calm.  He crumples to the floor; his helmet useless against Xavier’s augmented abilities.  With one last gasp he reaches towards the light and squeezes, the Professor’s headgear shudders then collapses in on itself, crushing his skull.  Charles Xavier is dead, and Magneto is left alone in the darkness with only his thoughts.

Magneto vs Robocop

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

The rainforest treetops parted by an unseen force as Magneto probed the lush rainforest underneath for some sign of human intellect. He knew it was futile, his combatant merely a machine. This chase merely a formality. The metalic reflection in the distance barely made Magneto’s sense tinge. Soaring at ever increasing speeds Magneto closed the distance in moments and pulled Robocop into the air, sending the inferior machine’s hand cannon sailing away into the undergrowth. With a single thought, Robocop folded into himself crushing every bone in his body until he was no larger than a basketball. So simple. (more…)
